Sending Gratitude for the Circuit Trails in Philadelphia

The Greater Philadelphia and southern New Jersey region is the proud home of the Circuit Trails, a vast regional network of hundreds of miles of multiuse trails that is growing in size each year. Members of the Circuit Trails Coalition are getting closer to making the vision of 500 miles of Circuit Trails by 2025, but with less than two years left to reach the goal, sustained federal, state and local funding is more important than ever. We want to take time to express gratitude for those who’ve been critical to the development of the Circuit Trails through supporting, funding, maintaining and advancing the progress happening #OnTheCircuit

I’m writing to thank you for supporting the Circuit Trails network—and urge you to make the ongoing investment necessary to connect 500 miles of this network by 2025 a priority for our region. The trails that make up the Circuit are essential infrastructure, equitably addressing the most pressing issues facing the Greater Philadelphia and southern New Jersey region: Economic development, climate resiliency, mobility and safety for bicyclists and pedestrians.

The region is at an inflection point with available federal and state funds. There’s potential to invest in a more resilient region able to grow and better accommodate the number of people walking and bicycling safely for transportation, recreation and community connectivity in Philadelphia. This makes your continued support of the Circuit Trails more important than ever.

Eight miles of the Circuit were added recently, which brings the planned 850+ mile network to about 47% completion. An additional 77 miles are actively in progress, emphasizing the significant strides made toward the goal of achieving 500 miles by 2025. That’s a huge accomplishment and one that I applaud Philadelphia and neighboring counties for making possible.

With 2025 just around the corner, and the 500 mile goal in sight, I appreciate the crucial support you’ve provided and look forward to the continued advancement of the Circuit Trails in our county.
