Explore the Main Line Greenway, Cynwyd Heritage Trail, and Laurel Hill West Cemetery

This family-friendly social 7 mile ride will take you along the Cynwyd Heritage Trail and explore several sections of the planned Main Line Greenway (MLG). The MLG utilizes mostly low-stress roads to get cyclists around safely, in a town where there's not a lot of room for bike infrastructure, but there are a lot of quiet neighborhood roads. When complete, the MLG will stretch across all of Lower Merion, with plans to connect to neighboring communities.

The ride will conclude back at Barmouth Trailhead and Laurel Hill West, where we will get a guided tour of some of the more interesting "residents" of the cemetery. We will also explore Laurel Hill's Nature Sanctuary, which was converted from a dump site to an ecologically diverse habitat and green burial ground.

Although not officially part of the event, riders will be encouraged to explore the trail connection through the cemetery to the Pencoyd bridge and Manayunk. Slated for construction in 2025 is a sidepath along Righter's Ferry Road that will connect the rear entrance of the Laurel Hill West property to the recently redeveloped Lower Merion riverfront and Pencoyd bridge, nearly all off-road and away from automobile traffic.

Route details and more information will be made available upon registration.
